Isle of Skye Wool from Hebridean sheep
100% wool from Hebridean sheep.
100g double knitting.
This stunning natural Isle of Skye Wool from Hebridean sheep is our most local wool coming from a flock just three miles down the road in Breakish on the Isle of Skye. It is then machine spun and comes to us in 100g balls ready to knit.
The wool is hard wearing, easy to knit and keeps its shape well. It is naturally dark brown which varies from ball to balls as each sheep is unique. To achieve an even colour effect it is essential to work with more than one ball at a time. Try working 2-4 rows from each ball, carrying the colours up the side.
Knits as double knitting on 4mm needles.
Hand wash only:
Add a small amount of delicate washing detergent, to a sink of tepid water. Turn the garment inside out, submerge, swish, then soak for a few mins. Rinse well, pressing out the water. Dry flat, never wring or hang-dry.
The Hebridean is a breed of small black sheep from Scotland, previously know as St Kilda sheep. These hardy sheep are similar to other members of the Northern European short-tailed sheep group, having a short, triangular tail. They often have two pairs of horns.
